On Saturday May 10th the Seattle Majestics travelled to Corvallis, Oregon to take on the Corvallis Pride. The Pride and the Majestics both started the game 3-0 however the Majestics ended the game 4-0 handing the Pride their first loss of the season.
The Majestics prepared for a tough game against the Pride since both teams have had an intense rivalry since 2003 but from the first kick off the Majestics controlled the game. On the Prides first offensive drive DL Ese Sesepasara picked up a fumble and ran 40 yards for a TD. Unfortunately the TD was called back by a penalty but the Majestics offense still took over on the Pride's 10 yard line.
The Majestics offense was a little shaky at first but they still managed to score 19 points in the first half. With the help of the O-line RB Renee Rodak had two rushing touchdowns on the day and TE Gretchen Pietras added a touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone. QB Michel Volk had a rough passing day but managed to complete passes to WR Adrienne Wilson, WR Crystal Brown, RB Rodak, RB Andreana Campolo, and the touchdown to TE Pietras.
On the other side of the ball the Majestics defense shut down the Pride and delivered their second shutout of the season. DL Ese Sesepasara had a huge game for the Majestics which included several sacks, tackles, two fumble recoveries, and a huge defensive touchdown. DL Andrea "Dr. Dre" Baca added a fumble recovery of her own while LB's Kasey Rivas and Gail Pitman along with Sesepasara helped shut down the Pride's running game.
Safety Carolyn Napier, CB Karlene Clapp, and CB Angie Andrew all had one interception a piece which helped shut down the Pride's passing game. The entire Majestics defense played great and everyone had a part in shutting down Corvallis' offense.
Overall the Majestics played well in a very tough environment and remain undefeated heading into their second match up with the Sacramento Sirens this Saturday at 1 PM.
