On Saturday April 19th the Seattle Majestics traveled to Sacramento, CA to take on the three time IWFL National Champion Sacramento Sirens. The Majestics defense took the opportunity of playing a great team like Sacramento to prove that they were a force to be reckoned with and held the Siren's scoreless until the forth quarter.
Ese Sesepasara, Gretchen Pietras, Heidi Corey, and Heather Gallemore all had at least one QB sack in the game and the Majestics Linebackers Kasey Rivas, Gail Pitman, and Shannon Fitch all had multiple tackles a piece. The Majestics secondary refused to let the Siren's passing game develop and helped shut down the Siren's running game with great defensive plays by Safety Jennifer Norton.
The Majestics offense backed their defense by scoring an early touchdown on a pass from QB Michel Volk to RB Quisha Macauley. The Majestics first scoring drive started with a fantastic catch by TE Gretchen Pietras and several hard runs by RB Allison Poulin and RB Macauley. At the end of the first half the Majestics led the Sirens 7-0.
The Majestics came out of half time just as hot as they went into half time. During their first possession of the third quarter QB Volk completed a long first down pass to TE Pietras and RB Poulin later capped the drive with a short TD run. Majestics Kicker Crystal Brown successfully kicked both PAT's and for only the second time in Majestics history the Majestics defeated the Siren's 14-7.
The Majestics defeated the Siren's with a total team effort. From special teams to offense to defense everyone did their job and made it possible for the Majestics to leave Sacramento with a big win.
The Seattle Majestics would like to thank the Siren's for their great sportsmanship and hospitality.
The Majestics will take on the Redding Rage at home this Saturday the 26th at 7 PM.
