When Evansville native Camille Head attended North High School she was a standout soccer player and cross country runner. But she says her true love was football and now she plays for the Seattle Majestics, a womens' tackle football team in the Independent Womens Football League.
Head said she wanted to play football for as long as she can remember.
"Yeah I think it started whenever I learned how to walk," Head said. "I have four older brothers who were active in sports, brothers that played throughout their careers. Once I saw that I was able to go out and play it, been a believer ever since."
In fact, the 33-year-old Head has played both wide receiver and free safety for the Majestics the past three years. This year her team went 9-0 before losing in the second round of the playoffs to the Dallas Diamonds.
Last week Dallas beat the Chicago Force for the women's National Championship.
Head said if you come see her play, it's a mistake to think you're going to get a Powder Puff game.
"I think they go, 'Oh it's powder puff.' They don't know until they come see a game, and once they see it they are a believer," Head said.
Head said her most serious injuries were a couple broken fingers. She said she hopes to play at least two more years.
